Letters received, 1901-1918.

Collection consists of letters received from several artists and writers, primarily addressed to Lapauze in his capacity as curator at the Petit Palais. Many of the letters comment briefly on Lapauze's reviews, art historical writings and exhibitions at the museum and often include mention of work in progress. Correspondents include Charles Cain of the Musee Carnavalet (1903-1918); Paul and Maurice Chabas (ca. 1916-1918); Fernand Cormon (n.d.); Emmanuel Fremiet (n.d.); J.L. Gerome (1902-1904); Jacques Froment-Meurice (ca. 1908); Gustave Jeanniot (ca. 1902); Andre Metthey (1909-1916); Charles Morice (1911); Jean Francois Raffaelli (1907-1911); Maxime Real del Sarte (1920-1921); and Rene Saint-Marceaux (ca. 1901-1912). A number of the letters are addressed to Lapauze's wife "Daniel Lesueur." In alphabetical order.
